Carlo Marenghi: Director
Carlo is a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Fire Engineers and has 7 years of experience in the industry.
Tell us a little bit about your background?
I studied Chemical Engineering at The University of Leeds. I loved my time in Leeds but I was never convinced that a job in Chemical Engineering was for me. Pre-graduation I decided to apply for a graduate role as a fire engineer, with the aim to take a gap year should I be unsuccessful. So, fortunately for me (or not!) I was successful in my application and I have enjoyed a rewarding and challenging career since then as a fire engineer.
What do you aim to achieve with Mars Fire Engineering?
I have had the benefit of working under some fantastic people during my career that have placed an emphasis on team culture and this is certainly something I want to carry forward at Mars. I think a strong team culture, where headspace and wellbeing is promoted, ultimately creates a working environment in which engineers thrive, supporting not only successfully project work but also a company that people want to be a part of. This will be an important focus area at Mars to ensure we positively contribute to this industry and push things forward!
In your opinion, what makes the difference between a good and a great project?
Without a doubt, it is the people you are working with! The best part of being a consultant is the relationships you build through project work. For me, working with like minded people towards a collective goal, celebrating wins and solving challenging problems, creates a great project. Hopefully there will be lots of this to come at Mars.
Tell us a little bit about your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Football is my biggest passion outside of work. I am not able to play much these days but I do manage to watch Arsenal regularly and of course enjoy a pre-match Guinness at the Bank of Friendship. When I’m not watching Arsenal fail to get it over the line, I like to explore the world of wine – ideally shared with friends and family, and paired with good food!
